This year we moved into our first home! I feel like such a grown up ;p It’s a three bedroom house, but since both my husband and I work from home at the moment, we decided to convert both spare bedrooms into offices. Sorry guests, you’ll have to be cool with an air mattress—Mama need her work space. This was a MAJOR upgrade from my previous ‘office’, which was a desk in the living room…
I had the best time decorating my first ever home office. I think my favorite part is having a DOOR that I can close at the end of the work day. My mental health has really improved since being able to set that physical boundary at 5pm each evening. Plus, it has given me so much peace and confidence on sales calls, IG Lives, Stories, and more. I can SHOW UP as my best self because I know no one will be barging in or walking through the background—ha! Whats more, I’ve learned through this process that it’s okay to spend money on a space that you will love. It’s okay to go with the item that’s not on sale if you really think it will create a more peaceful environment for you to do your best work.
Here is a quick video tour of my new space:
I also share lots of photos of it over on Instagram if you’d like to follow me over there!
Here are a few general tips/pointers for designing an ‘on brand home’ office:
Incorporate your brand colors
My brand colors are shades of green, pink, and beige/gold. I decided to paint a feature wall green and incorporate pink through the accent chair and rug.
Print and display brand photos
If you have any nice brand photos, be sure to print them out and frame them. This will really elevate your space and give it a thoughtful, put-together vibe!
Get a sign made with your logo or sub-mark
The sign behind my office is courtesy of a family friend who makes vinyl and plexiglass signs. Having “Blossom Copy” in the background of all my Zoom calls really levels up my business presence! Look into getting one made for your biz on Etsy or other artisan sites.
Don’t neglect comfort for style!
I used to have a really cute chair as my office chair that wasn’t at all supportive or ergonomic. I had terrible back pain (surprise). I finally swapped it out for a traditional office chair that’s less cute but way comfier. No regrets.
Happy decorating, friends!
