Today, I want to share a personal roundup of some of my favorite people, places, and things from the last 12 months outside of my business.

Micah’s 2021 Favorites

Marriage

In April, I got married to my best friend! We’d been together almost three years at that point, so it was time to get the show on the road (and get that tax break 😉). Our wedding was absolutely wonderful. We had friends and family involved  in almost every aspect—the flowers, the ceremony, the cake—it really was a ‘village’ wedding and I wouldn’t change a thing.

Auntie Life

My brother, sister-in-law, and nephew moved to Texas in March. It’s been so wonderful getting closer to them this year and spending time playing with my nephew. He recently started recognizing me when I walk into the room and trying to say my name. Be still, my heart! 

House

My husband and I bought our first home in June. It was a big, scary investment that was totally worth it! We LOVE having a space to call our own and customize. I’ve had so much fun decorating spaces on nights and weekends as a way to unwind from writing all day.

Travel

This year our travel consisted mostly of attending weddings. We attended four weddings in California, Texas, Idaho, and Seattle. Each trip was so special in its own right, and we’re excited to travel even more in 2022: Nashville, Mexico, and San Antonio are already on the docket!

Movies and Books

I’ve read a ton of books this year, which is really important for my writing muscle! If I had to choose, I’d say my favorite book this year was Oh William! by Elizabeth Strout. My favorite movie was tick..tick..BOOM! starring Andrew Garfield and directed by Lin Manuel Miranda. It is SO good. 10/10 would recommend watching it tonight 🍿
