As your own boss, it can be tempting to feel like it’s never okay to really, truly take time off; like if you do, the business you’ve invested so much time and energy into building will come crumbling down around you. No pressure.

One of the biggest mindset shifts I’m working on right now is this: Time off serves your business, not detracts from it. If I never take time off to reset and reset, but writing will eventually become uninspired and flat. And nobody wants flat copy. 

So what can you do to prepare your creative small business for time off this year?

• Wrapping up all new projects the week before your scheduled time off. There will always be a loose end of two, so build in some cushion time.
• Add a note to your email signature notifying people of your upcoming time off. 
• Hit that auto-responder SO HARD.
• Use an Instagram scheduler like Planoly to pre-schedule posts.
• Post on your Instagram that you are Out of Office and when you will return.
